Resumo

Tendo em vista que as Oficinas Ortopédicas do SUS ainda mantêm os métodos artesanais tradicionais de produção, observou-se a necessidade da produção de órteses por meios alternativos, como manufatura aditiva e bambu, de modo a agregar facilidade na customização, redução de custos e alto volume de produção. Sendo assim, o artigo apresenta uma avaliação dos três protótipos de órteses AFO: tradicional, manufatura aditiva (impressão 3D) e bambu por meio de uma escala de diferencial semântico. O objetivo é identificar a percepção resultante da interação com o objeto frente aos três tipos de órteses, dentro das três funções do design: prática, estética e simbólica para aprimorar o projeto de órteses desenvolvidas com materiais alternativos. A pesquisa foi realizada na Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina (UDESC) e a amostra foi composta por 31 alunos, sendo estes da última fase do curso de graduação em Design de Produto e alunos da Pós-Graduação em Design e Moda, que foram convidados a observar e manusear as órteses e apontar quais dos 19 atributos pareados as descrevem e as representam melhor. Os resultados apresentam diferenças significativas entre as órteses, corroborando às hipóteses iniciais de que a confecção de órteses tradicionais, apesar do cumprimento das funções práticas, não satisfaz em termos estéticos e simbólicos. Já as órteses de manufatura aditiva e bambu necessitam de aprimoramento na fase projetual quanto às funções práticas.

Abstract

Bearing in mind that SUS Orthopedic Workshops still maintains traditional artisanal production methods the need to produce orthoses by alternative means was observed, such as additive manufacturing and bamboo, to add ease of customization, cost reduction, and high production volume. Therefore, the article presents an evaluation of the three prototypes of AFO orthoses: traditional, additive manufacturing (3D printing), and bamboo using a semantic differential scale. The objective is to identify the perception resulting from the interaction with the object facing the three types of orthoses, within the three functions of design: practical, aesthetic, and symbolic to improve the design of orthoses developed with alternative materials. The research was carried out at the State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC) and the sample consisted of 31 students, these being from the last phase of the undergraduate course in Product Design and pos-graduate students in Design and Fashion, who were invited to observe and handle the orthoses and point out which of the 19 paired attributes describe and represent them best. The results show significant differences between the orthoses, corroborating the initial hypotheses that the making of traditional orthoses, despite the fulfillment of practical functions, is not satisfactory in aesthetic and symbolic terms. Additive and bamboo orthoses, on the other hand, need improvement in the design phase as to practical functions.
