Resumo

Apesar de a mídia digital vir ganhando espaço, a materialidade do livro se mostra importante em muitos projetos editoriais. Decisões projetuais ampliam as possibilidades quanto à constituição de narrativas e de conceitos. O design funciona como ferramenta que propõe reflexões e debates, e pode contribuir tanto para a manutenção de discursos como para a criação de novos. Este trabalho aborda a relação entre os textos verbal, visual e gráfico, constituintes da publicação com edição da N-1 da obra Corpos que importam: os limites discursivos do “sexo”, projeto gráfico de Érico Peretta e autoria de Judith Butler (2019). A pesquisa se apoia em uma abordagem qualitativa, subjetiva e interpretativa da amostra selecionada e se utiliza do método de análise semiótica desenvolvido por Cardoso e Pacheco (2017). Conclui-se que há um processo de tradução intersemiótica nesta edição, o qual potencializa a discussão sobre as questões de gênero levantadas pela autora do livro.

Abstract

Although digital media has become increasingly popular, the materiality of the book is important in many editorial projects. Design decisions expand the possibilities regarding the constitution of narratives and concepts. In addition to working as a tool that proposes reflections and debates, design contributes both to the maintenance of speeches and to the creation of new ones. This work discusses the relationship between the verbal, visual and graphic texts in the N-1 edition of Bodies That Matter: On the Discursive Limits of “Sex”, a graphic project conceived by Érico Peretta and authored by Judith Butler (2019). This research is based on a qualitative, subjective and interpretative approach of the selected sample, and uses the semiotic analysis method developed by Cardoso and Pacheco (2017). Results show that there is an intersemiotic translation process in this edition that enhances the discussion about the gender issues raised by the author of the book.
