Resumo

A presente pesquisa apresenta uma análise visual do ladrilho hidráulico produzido em  Campina Grande, abrangendo os exemplares da fábrica Metro Materiais, a antiga “Fábrica de Mosaicos Resistência”, inaugurada em 1947. Popularmente conhecido como mosaicos, essa tipologia de revestimento foi um elemento construtivo importante na constituição histórica da arquitetura do município. A pesquisa investiga as linguagens visuais, padrões formais e demais aspectos iconográficos dos ladrilhos produzidos pela fábrica Metro, com o objetivo de analisar, registrar e compreender as gravuras de maneira técnico-construtiva. Justifica-se a pesquisa, conforme o seu valor científico e acadêmico, devido à escassez de literatura sobre o tema de análises visuais a respeito desses artefatos, resultando na preservação da memória visual – especificamente sobre o objeto de estudo. Assim, a contribuição dos resultados, e os conceitos apresentados sobre as técnicas de composição dos ladrilhos hidráulicos, abrem caminhos para conhecimentos que podem ser aplicados em demais projetos de design de superfície.

Abstract

The present research presents a visual analysis of the hydraulic tile produced in Campina Grande, covering the specimens of the Metro Materiais factory, the old “Fábrica de Mosaicos Resistência”, inaugurated in 1947. Popularly known as mosaics, this type of cladding was an important constructive element in the historic constitution of the city. The research investigates the visual languages, formal patterns and other iconographic aspects of the tiles produced by the Metro Factory, with the purpose of analyzing, recording and understanding the engravings in a technical-constructive way. The research is justified according to its scientific and academic value, due to the scarcity of literature on the subject of visual analysis regarding these artifacts, resulting in the preservation of visual memory – specifically on the object of study. Thus, the contribution of the results, and the concepts presented on the techniques of composition of the hydraulic tiles, open paths to perceptions that may be applied in other surface design projects.
