Resumo

O estudo em questão descreve o procedimento de elaboração de um inventário das inscrições tipográficas encontradas nos prédios históricos da cidade de Pelotas, localizada no estado do Rio Grande do Sul. O objetivo é promover o reconhecimento dessas inscrições como expressões escritas e auxiliar sua conservação através do registro e documentação de cada ocorrência. A cidade de Pelotas foi selecionada devido à abundância de inscrições tipogrgráficas presentes em seu conjunto arquitetônico. As inscrições mapeadas neste estudo estão delimitadas pelas Zonas de Preservação do Patrimônio Cultural, estabelecidas por legislação municipal para proteger áreas de interesse histórico e cultural da cidade. Além disso, apenas as inscrições relacionadas à produção arquitetônica entre os anos de 1850 e 1930 foram incluídas no inventário. O trabalho apresenta o contexto histórico em que os prédios contendo as inscrições foram construídos, bem como as funções e os sistemas de classificação atribuídos a cada inscrição gráfica. Foi realizado o inventário, destacando as suas origens e o método adotado para sua obtenção. Concluiu-se que o inventário elaborado cumpriu de forma adequada sua finalidade de organizar os dados referentes às inscrições para fins de análise.

Abstract

This study presents the process of inventorying the typographic inscriptions present in the historical buildings of the city of Pelotas/RS, aiming at its appreciation as an expression of writing, as well as its preservation through the registration and documentation of its occurrences. The city of Pelotas was chosen because its eclectic architectural ensemble present a considerable number of typographic inscriptions. The manifestations of writing inventoried here obey the geographical limit of the cultural heritage preservation zones, established by municipal law that seeks to safeguard the areas of the city of historical and cultural interest and to the temporal limit of architectural production held between 1850 and 1930. The work presents the historical context in which the buildings, supports of inventoried inscriptions, were built, as well as the functions and consequent types of classification of typographic inscriptions. The inventory was performed, showing its origins and the process of inventory adopted. It can be concluded that the inventory performed was appropriate to the function of organizing the data related to registration for analysis.
