Resumo

A metodologia de uma  pesquisa inicia-se com a definição de abordagem epistemológica que embasará a criação e avaliação de métodos utilizados. Observa-se que, contudo, muitas vezes a pesquisa em Design é feita de maneira tecnicista, sem a devida reflexão epistemológica. Este artigo propõe-se a apresentar e discutir a epistemologia do Behaviorismo Radical como opção teórica para a pesquisa em Design. Para ilustrar tal discussão é apresentada uma análise pautada em tal epistemologia de um procedimento metodológico comum em Design Centrado no Usuário: as Personas. Objetiva-se enriquecer a percepção sobre tal procedimento metodológico, descrevendo-o passo a passo e esmiuçando suas possibilidades e efeitos. Para tal propósito foi realizada uma revisão integrativa sobre análise behaviorista radical de processos de trabalho, bem como do instrumental relacionado ao uso de Personas. Os resultados apontam para como a epistemologia behaviorista radical pode contribuir para a sistematização metodológica de procedimentos de pesquisa e trabalho em Design, bem como à elucidação da eficácia de tais procedimentos.

Abstract

The methodology of a research begins with the definition of the epistemological approach that will base the creation and evaluation of the used methods. It is observed, however, that many times the Design research is made in a technical way, without the proper epistemological reflection. This paper aims to present and discuss the epistemology of the Radical Behaviorism as a theoretical option to the Design research. To illustrate that discussion it is presented an analysis of a methodological process commonly used in the User Centered Design, the Personas, guided by such epistemology. It is aimed to enrich the perception of such methodological process, describing the walkthrough and scrutinizing its possibilities and effects. For that purpose, an integrative review about the radical behaviorism process of work has been done, as well as a review about the tools related to the use of the Personas. The results point to how the radical behaviorist epistemology can contribute to the methodological systematization of the Design work and research procedures, as well as to the elucidation of the effectiveness of such proceedings.
