Resumo

Este artigo apresenta uma investigação sobre a questão da qualidade de projeto em capas de livros. A pesquisa aborda o contexto editorial brasileiro, partindo de um recorte dado pelas capas que entre 2000 e 2018 ganharam o Prêmio Jabuti, outorgado pela Câmara Brasileira do Livro. Compreende depoimentos obtidos em entrevistas qualitativas com agentes que atuam neste contexto: designers gráficos, editores, livreiros, assim como jurados e curadores do prêmio. A pesquisa busca identificar junto aos entrevistados os parâmetros que chancelam a ideia da qualidade de uma capa de livro.

Abstract

This article presents an investigation on the issue of quality of book cover design. The research focus on the Brazilian publishing context, and it is based on the book covers that won the Jabuti Award, granted by the Câmara Brasileira do Livro, between 2000 and 2018. The subjects connected to the theme were investigated through interviews with agents belonging to this publishing context: graphic designers, publishers, booksellers, as well as jurors and curators of the Award. The research seeks to identify the parameters that substantiate the idea of ​​ book cover quality.
