Resumo

Este trabalho trata da obra de Walmor Corrêa e do gênero artístico utilizado pelo artista plástico em seus desenhos: a ilustração científica. Consistindo em uma representação muito utilizada por biólogos e naturalistas na catalogação de espécies, esse tipo de registro gráfico segue técnicas e métodos rigorosos, exigindo, ao mesmo tempo, conhecimentos artísticos e científicos. Dentro dessa vertente, o artista brasileiro tem desenvolvido uma nova interpretação de animais e personagens folclóricos. No texto, procura-se efetuar o estudo da aproximação entre arte e ciência através do traço minucioso para a representação do imaginário.

Abstract

This research deals with the work of walmor corrêa and artistic genre used by the plastic artist in his designs: a scientific illustration. Consisting of a representation very used by biologists and naturalists in the cataloging of species, this type of graphic recording follows rigorous techniques and methods requiring, at the same time artistic and scientific knowledge. In this case, the Brazilian artist has developed a new interpretation of animal and folklore characters. In the text, it was made a research seeking the study of the approximation between art and science by the exact trace for representing the imaginary.
