Resumo

As charges normalmente ganham repercussão por seus temas polêmicos, humor crítico e por conter a imagem de personalidades conhecidas. Nossa pesquisa analisa as charges do jornal Charlie Hebdo, alvo de um ataque terrorista islâmico em 2015. Em nosso trabalho, abordamos a linguagem daquelas, caracterizada por ser constituída de elementos visuais e verbais. Paralelamente, também analisamos o discurso chárgico a partir dos conceitos de polifonia, dialogismo e carnavalização, desenvolvidos por Bakthin (1993, 2005). Além disso, investigamos também a teoria da semiótica por Peirce juntamente com a de Gestalt. Chegamos à conclusão de que as charges do jornal são dialógicas, mas não polifônicas. O processo de carnavalização proposto pelo Charlie Hebdo em seu site não se mantém, pois sua visão não é totalmente ambivalente. As charges podem ser interpretadas através da semiótica e a comunicação entre imagem e leitor pode ser facilitada através das leis de Gestalt.

Abstract

The cartoons usually gain repercussion for their controversial themes, critical humor and contain the image of known personalities. Our research analyzes the cartoons of the Charlie Hebdo newspaper, the target of an Islamic terrorist attack in 2015. In our work, we approach the language of those, characterized by being made up of visual and verbal elements. At the same time, we also analyze chronological discourse based on the concepts of polyphony, dialogism and carnivalization, developed by Bakthin (1993, 2005). In addition, we also analyze Peirce’s theory of semiotics and Gestalt theory together. We came to the conclusion that newspaper cartoons are dialogical, but not polyphonic. The process of carnivalization proposed by Charlie Hebdo on his website does not hold, because his vision is not totally ambivalent. Cartoons can be interpreted through semiotics and communication between image and reader can be facilitated through the laws of Gestalt.
