Abstract

The Braille code is an effective option that enables learning of verbal content without loss of meaning. However, the visual content, which is used by seers and contributes significantly to their learning, do not have a system/code equally effective in the transposition for the visually impaired. Therefore, the aim of this work is to develop tactile teaching resources for assisting the visually impaired in the learning process, contributing for the inclusion of these people in universities and educational institutions. The development method used in this work was based on Iida (2005) Back et al. (2008) and Hersh (2010), with a user-centered approach, based on the following steps: gathering and analyzing information; digital manufacturing and prototyping; evaluation with user; and completion. Three teaching resources were developed, obtaining approval of the final user by assisting him in learning the specific content. The developed resources will be part of the collection for the visually impaired at the Central Library of UFRGS. Thus, we observe that the user-centered design, aided by methods of digital fabrication and prototyping, contributes in the development of accessible educational resources for the visually impaired.
