Resumo
Este artigo trata da observação cotidiana do design finlandês, e sua relação forma/função no contexto da realidade nórdica. Discorre sobre a produção de mobiliário na Finlândia, desde o início do século XX até os dias atuais, com especial ênfase na sua relação com os princípios formais, funcionais e tecnológicos do Movimento Moderno. Estas considerações são resultantes do estágio de pós-doutorado cumprido na Universidade de Arte e Design de Helsinque.

Abstract
This paper concerns the daily observation of the Finnish design, and the relationship between shape and function in the context of Nordic reality. It studies the furniture production in Finland, from the beginning of the 20th Century up till now, with special emphasis to its relationship with the formal, functional and technological aspects of the Modern Movement. These considerations result from a post-doctorate internship at the Helsinki University of Art and Design.
