Resumo
Este artigo investiga as potencialidades de um software gráfico na coordenação das representações múltiplas de funções, por pares de estudantes de primeira série do Ensino Médio, os quais iniciavam o estudo desse assunto em suas aulas de Matemática. Foi realizada uma pesquisa qualitativa, em que a estratégia metodológica “experimentos de ensino” foi utilizada ao se observarem suas ações no estudo das representações múltiplas de certas não tradicionalmente estudadas em sala de aula. As análises foram realizadas sob o ponto de vista teórico que entende o pensamento como a realização de um coletivo, o qual inclui seres humanos e tecnologias intelectuais. Os estudantes participantes coordenaram as representações de funções, especialmente a gráfica e algébrica e a tabular, de maneira que suas ações foram condicionadas pelo design do software, incluindo sua capacidade de representar muitas funções e seus comandos zoom e barras de rolagem.

Abstract
This paper investigated the potentialities of a graphing software to coordinate multiple representations of functions when used by pairs of ninth grade students who were beginning to study the subject in their regular classes. A qualitative study was conducted in which “teaching experiments” were used to observe theirs actions as they studied multiple representations of certain functions which are not traditionally studied in the ninth grade. The analyses were conducted from a theoretical perspective in which thinking is understood as being carried out by a collective that includes humans and intellectual technologies. The students who participated coordinated the representations of functions, especially of graphic, algebraic, and tabular representations, in such a way that their actions were conditioned by the design of the software, including its capacity to represent many functions, and its zoom commands and rolling bars.
