Resumo

O presente artigo apresenta uma das etapas da pesquisa cujo objetivo é identificar características anatômicas tipográficas que facilitem o reconhecimento de letras por discentes da terceira idade. Tal etapa refere-se ao teste de leitura, utilizado como método para a coleta de dados desta fase do estudo. Para isso, foram coletados 07 materiais didáticos da Universidade Integrada da Terceira Idade – UNITI/UFMA, e realizada uma análise tipográfica e selecionados os tipos mais usados nestes artefatos para serem testados na pesquisa, agrupando-os em Serifados, Sem Serifa e Manuscritos. Posteriormente, os grupos tipográficos foram aplicados em textos. Participaram desta etapa 36 discentes divididos em três grupos, cada grupo realizou o teste de leitura com um grupo tipográfico. Com os registros audiovisuais e a tabulação dos dados, identificou-se os tipos que foram melhores e/ou piores lidos, como também a opinião dos participantes em relação às tipografias lidas. Além disso, foram registrados os erros de reconhecimento de algumas letras durante a leitura. Todavia, os dados apresentados são iniciais e serão analisados e discutidos com mais profundidade com a realização das próximas etapas da pesquisa.

Abstract

This paper presents one of the stages of the research whose objective is to identify anatomical typographic characteristics that facilitate the recognition of letters by students of the third age. This step refers to the reading test, used as a method for collecting data from this phase of the study. For this, 07 didactic materials were collected from the Integrated University of the Third Age – UNITI, and a typographic analysis was carried out and the types most used in these artifacts were selected to be tested in the research, grouping them in Serif, Sans Serif and Manuscripts. Later, the typographical groups were applied to texts. 36 students participated in this stage, divided into three groups, each group took the reading test with a typographic group. With the audiovisual records and data tabulation, he identified whether the types that were best and / or worst read, as well as the opinion of the participants in relation to the typographies read. In addition, errors of recognition of some letters were recorded during reading. However, the data presented is initial and will be analyzed and discussed in more depth with the completion of the next stages of the research.
