Resumo

Como inspiração para o futuro no ensino do Design, considera-se fundamental analisar o pensamento de Daciano da Costa (1930-2005) face à importância que conferia ao Desenho, ao longo da sua carreira docente e da sua prática como figura de referência no Design do século XX em Portugal. Daciano da Costa, como docente, desenvolveu uma metodologia própria de ensino de Desenho de onde podemos colher alguns ensinamentos para o futuro. Neste artigo pretende-se, através do seu exemplo, referir o importante papel desempenhado pelo Desenho no Design. Com o enfoque no seu pensamento e na sua ação pedagógica no ensino da disciplina de Desenho, demonstra-se o peso que lhe atribuía na formação em Design. Apesar da mudança de paradigma imposta pela mudança dos tempos, o ensino do Desenho permanecerá indissociável da formação dos futuros designers ao assumir-se como ferramenta indispensável à atividade projetual que continua a constituir a base do Design.

Abstract

As an inspiration for the future in Design teaching, it is fundamental to analyze the thinking of Daciano da Costa (1930-2005) concerning the importance he conferred to Drawing, throughout his teaching career and his practice as a reference personage in the Design of the twentieth century in Portugal. Daciano da Costa, as professor, developed a unique methodology on Drawing teaching from which we can gather some knowledge for the future. Through his example, this paper pretends to afford the important role played by Drawing in Design. Focusing his thinking and pedagogical action through his teaching in the Drawing course, we underline the importance he gave to Drawing in the graduation in Design. Despite the paradigm changes imposed by the changing of times, the Drawing teaching will remain inseparable from the formation of the future designers, positioning itself as an indispensable tool in the project activity which continues to be the Design basis.
